The Challenge

A lumber mill was looking for improved wear life on their board edging machine. Their machine experienced high shock loads that could not be supported by the competitor’s chain. This led to premature chain failure and downtime costs of $15,000 per machine, per day.

The Solution

To solve this issue, Diamond experts recommended our Standard Series chain. Although we often recommend Heavy Series chain for heavy shock load applications, in this instance, Standard Series chains were easily able to handle the load of the machinery.

The Result

After switching to Diamond® Standard Series chain, the lumber mill experienced savings of $50,897 in reduced downtime and $1,497 in reduced chain expenditures for the year.
